I find that I am retired from the day job that occupied me most of the last 40+ years. Yes it is a true fact, I have stepped away from mainstream Citizens Advice local service and into ‘retirement’ which involves some work in the national peer group of CEOs – doing some bits and bobs on comms and engagement for the wider group and also a little bit of consultancy work for colleague local service CEOs – while I have any info that may help someone else – happy to do a ‘knowledge drop’ on it all…
What I am really doing is spending more time on my yoga and meditation and more time with friends and family and more time with my doggo and more time in the garden and more time with my crafty stuff and absolutely more time learning new things that are really interesting (not just the latest new thing the government has come up with that keeps people in grinding poverty).. aha… that slipped out didn’t it?- so maybe more time on political issues and campaigning for a society where no one is left behind…
It has been a long journey to this point of looking to the future and what it might hold for me rather than being stuck on the hamster wheel of leading the local team (brilliant people though they are)..
I have been so lucky to have a few people walking the walk to freedom with me – keeping me on track when it looked like it would never be done and when retirement day after retirement day after retirement day was snatched away from me due to some nonsense on the part of the funders who just got in a pickle and muddle with it all. So, I am taking a bit of time to build gratitude that things went the way they did and to find a comfort and strength in the timing rather than irritation and lingering resentment. It is just glorious now to be where I am – setting down what had become a burden of leadership and slowly and surely bringing a bit of balance back into life.. watch this space for the next great adventure into liberation…
