So, here I am, a middle aged dog walker who fancies to share some ideas and thoughts about life. Increasingly disappointed and disillusioned with social media and consequently drawn to blogging and, of course, totally inspired by my highly excellent brother who has begun blogging recently. Not that my posts will have half of the purpose, style or elegance of his -nor wit or wisdom, but they will be reflections of my sweetly haphazard life and choices.
Clearly the dogs are the constant factor here – with occasional tangental brushes with family and work life – the ups and downs – literally, of life running a holiday cottage and the highs and lows of being a mum and stepmum to a surprisingly large number of children and their partners…. you know who you are:)
The other constant is, of course, work and the confusing and dispiriting operating environment for charities in the 21st century – the hey day of funding and political generosity for our work has passed and a new ‘businesslike’ era has been ushered in which, to me, seems to miss the point of the charity world which is we are driven by passion and commitment, caring and sharing, not business plans, policies and procedures but- heck, what would I know anyway – after all, I am only a middle aged dog walker…. which is where I started this note…hope you enjoy the read…
