So yesterday when I woke up there was mist over the allotments at the back of the house – very atmospheric it was too…we have quite an autumnal groove going on again now don’t we?

Well that suits me well as I love this time of year – the sense of getting ready to hunker down and enjoy the cosy candles, firelight vibe..The only thing that might trip me up is that we have ripped up the grim old carpet in the room where I do my yoga so I have glorious floorboards which are to me quite delightful but I realise now I may need to buckle up for some drafts over the autumn/winter. I am not daunted, I have plans to use a rather natty cardi to keep me snug when I am not powering through my strength and heat building poses. It is purple (of course) and has been seriously chewed by the moth as it is cashmere – so no way can it be used out and about (even if I were minded to do some of my famous ‘invisible’ mends). How lovely to use it for yoga now then…..

The other bit that I adore just now is seeing the Michaelmas daisies out in full bloom. They came from my grandfather who was born in the last few years of the 19th century (1898ish I think). He gave some of the daisies to our mum when we were all living in Weigall Road. We moved from there in 1968 and mum then gave me some for the garden here in Vale Road – probably around 1988- so they are at least 60 years old I think and I just wonder where he got them -maybe from seed, but quite likely from another family member as in those days it was v usual for a family visit to include a bundle of plants in newspaper that had come from one garden to another… love that about gardening – all the stories and links…
