At last, I hear you cry – what on earth have I been doing with my time? I have now made the new awning for the fabulous swinging seat which is ages old – prob 1920s I think – came to us from Suffolk and with a spattering of new hammerite from time to time is still going strong.

Each year I mean to properly weather proof the stripey awning or take it off over winter and each year we get to Spring with the old one tatty and growing a lovely collection of moss so to the online stripey fabric shop and back to my trusty sewing machine.

Each year I also promise to write down the dimensions that work best so there is enough canopy at the front to shade us when the sun is higher and yet not too much so we can’t flip the front up when the sun is lower (or is it the other way round – whatevve…)

Each year I start a new design as I have no clue where the dimensions are and the old one is often not in a state to be laid out and measured….is there a life lesson there for me – probably but not at all sure what it is.

This year we have excelled ourselves – I have always gone for blue or green stripes before as the frame is green metal – this year, we decided to go for red ticking to match the barbeque which sits opposite the seat… WOWEE.. it works. I am now thinking about laminating the sheet of our scribbled measurements and design so next year when I have failed to protect the awning appropriately, there will be an easier process. Will that happen though – I somehow doubt it…..happy days eh?

and here are some of the other offerings…
